Taylor Made TDS offers range and drive training in Ferndale for Whatcom County cohorts. Classroom instruction takes place at our Burlington campus — but if you're based in Bellingham, Lynden, or Ferndale, we bring the hands-on training to you.
Ferndale is a Range & Drive Training Site — Not a Full Campus
All classroom instruction, enrollment, and testing coordination takes place at our Burlington campus. Ferndale range and drive training is available for Whatcom County cohorts of 3–6 students. If you're in Whatcom County, call us to discuss whether a Ferndale cohort is forming for your preferred start date.
How Training Works for Whatcom County Students
Enroll at Burlington
All enrollment, paperwork, and initial orientation takes place at our Burlington campus (650 N Burlington Blvd). This is a one-time visit — we'll make it efficient.
Classroom Instruction in Burlington
Federal regulations, pre-trip inspection theory, hours of service, and CDL knowledge exam prep are conducted at our Burlington facility. Weekday students attend Mon–Thu; weekend students attend Saturday–Sunday for the first two weekends.
Range & Drive Training in Ferndale
For Whatcom County cohorts, skills and range training (backing, alley docking, parallel parking) and drive training can be conducted at our Ferndale site at 3314 Douglas Road — reducing your commute for the hands-on portion.
Testing Coordinated Through Burlington
CDL skills testing is administered by Washington State DOL or an authorized third-party examiner. TMTDS coordinates all scheduling on your behalf — we do not test on-site.

Taylor Made TDS is the closest full-service CDL school to Bellingham. Our Burlington campus is approximately 30 miles south of Bellingham on I-5. For Whatcom County students, we offer range and drive training in Ferndale when cohort sizes allow.
How long is the commute from Bellingham to Burlington?
Burlington is approximately 30 miles south of Bellingham — typically 30–40 minutes on I-5. Many Whatcom County students make this commute daily for the weekday program. For weekend students, the commute is only on Saturdays and Sundays.
