Program Overview
The 40-Hour CDL Refresher is a custom-designed program for licensed commercial drivers who need to rebuild skills, address a specific gap, or prepare for a test. You tell us the problem. We build the training around it.
This is not a one-size-fits-all course. Before training begins, your instructor will assess your current skill level and build a focused plan. The goal is efficient, targeted improvement — not seat time for its own sake.
Common Uses
Transmission Restriction Removal
Holding a CDL with an automatic transmission restriction limits your job options. 40 hours of training on a manual-equipped truck — building the confidence and consistency to test off the restriction.
CDL Reinstatement Prep
Had your CDL lapse or let your medical certificate expire? We'll get you current on the skills you need before you schedule your reinstatement skills test. Training is built around what you actually need — no filler.
Return to Active Driving
Been out of the seat for a while? Time off the road costs you more than you think. Our instructors will assess where you are and build a focused plan to get your instincts and habits back where they need to be before you go back to work.
Skills Test Preparation
Trained at another school and not feeling ready for your skills test? Or did you fail a first attempt? We work with drivers at any stage. Coaching on pre-trip, backing, and on-road performance — specific to WA DOL examiner expectations and the needed road ready skills to perform as a CDL driver.

Training Format
Schedule is flexible — sessions are arranged directly with your instructor around your availability. Weekday and weekend times available. Contact us to build your schedule.
Equipment: Training takes place on Taylor Made's equipment. If you need training on a specific truck type for your employer, contact us to discuss options.
Total hours: Up to 40 hours. Actual hours depend on your starting point and goals — we design the plan with you before training begins.
